Denise began her journey in wine in 2007 when she took her first sommelier training course after an ethereal experience with her ‘come to Jesus’ wine, 1986 Gruaud Larose.
Intending to learn as much about wine as possible, Denise moved to France where she lived and worked on vineyards in the Loire Valley while periodically taste-traveling through Europe.
After returning to the States, Denise kicked off her wine industry career by working with major brands including Chateau d’Esclans (Whispering Angel), Frescobaldi, Paul Jaboulet Ainé and major Grand Cru Bordeaux estates. To continue her wine education, Denise became WSET Level 2 Sake Certified, WSET Advanced Level 3 Certified with distinction, and is currently working through the WSET Level 4 Diploma Program.
Today, Denise is an Instructor at the Sommelier Society of America in New York City, teaching Loire Valley/ Alsace, Bordeaux/ SW France and Advanced Tasting Techniques. With a passion for health and wellness, Denise founded ‘Meditasting: A Holistic and Intuitive Guide to Understanding Wine’ and is a IIN Certified Health Coach. Inspired to “debunk all hangovers”, Denise gives a new meaning to “drinking responsibly.”
